I am studying American Sign Language Interpreting in the Twin Cities. I am originally from Kansas City, home of all things BBQ. My girlfriend decided to move with me and she has been acclimating to the area as well.
I am very new to the north and I am loving the snow and crisp air. But lets face it, living here is NOT cheap. Not to mention I am studying full time and working a part time job at school. I decided to do something that has changed my life in such a short amount of time. While binge watching Youtube in my free time, I came across “zero wasters” (people who try to minimize their waste). I saw all kinds of crazy ideas.
There were people using cloth toilet paper, not using plastic bags, buying metal straws, buying only in season produce and the list goes on. The most striking idea to me was dumpster diving. I have never given a second thought when I needed to buy something. I kept watching people pull out treasures from the garbage and thought it could make a difference in my life.
What will you get?
- posts about my dumpster diving experiences
- pictures of my finds
- tips for diving in the Twin Cities

I hope you understand what you are getting yourself into. I realize that my new methods to living more sustainable isn’t conventional (that’s kind of the point). This journey will be fun and I hope you stick around for what’s to come.
Thank you, come again!
